Abbotsbury is situated on The Fleet under a steep limestone hill. The village contains many old stone cottages, many of them thatched. Abbotsbury is a gateway village on the Jurassic Coast, and consequently is very popular with tourists.
One and a half miles outside the village at the top of the limestone hill is the triangular hill fort, Abbotsbury Castle.
Lots to visit: The famous Swannery which is over 600 years old, subtropical gardens which were founded in 1765; The Abbey founded in 11th Century; abbey barn,the castle; St Catherine’s Chapel a 14th Century Chapel built entirely of stone and the nearby Chesil Beach.
