Corfe Castle
All Year Round
As they say there’s more to Corfe than just the dramatic ruins of the castle. With just two main streets which link at the main square, the village is constructed almost entirely from the local grey Purbeck limestone. At the square there are a few shops, post office, church and pub.
The fascinating ruins of Corfe Castle attract many visitors. Built on a hill to guard the main route through the Purbeck Hills it boasts of exceptional views.
You can also visit Corfe Castle Model Village and gardens. Step back into 1646 and see Corfe’s heritage castle and ancient village. At 1/20th scale the model village faithfully restores castle and village, stone by Purbeck stone.
Swanage Steam railway situated in the Isle of Purbeck provides the chance to catch a steam train to Swanage from Corfe Castle station which has been restored in a 1950’s style.
