Besides its charming historic towns and the Jurassic Coast which has been awarded World Heritage Site status, Dorset also has a wide and varied selection of different museums to choose from.
All packed with fascinating displays and each one full of its own stories and tales, whether your interest is Teddies or Tanks there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Teddy Bear Museum - Located in Dorchester, this enchanting museum will introduce you to over 100 years’ worth of teddies, from the earliest bears to modern favourites.
Tank Museum - A unique collection of over 300 vehicles just outside Bovington, showcasing the role of tanks and their crews throughout history.
Lyme Regis Museum – Packed with fascinating displays of science, arts and landscape it stands in the heart of the town.
Bridport Museum – Telling the story of the town’s history and the world famous rope and net making industries which made the majority of hangman’s nooses used in England.
Portland Museum – In the heart of the island, this small museum features the geology, archaeology, industry, social history, maritime history of Portland.
Bournemouth Aviation Museum – With lots of exhibits covering the last 50 years of aviation and regular events as well as a flight simulator.
Sherborne Museum – With more than 15,000 items donated by local residents such as paintings, books, dolls and costumes to name but a few. This museum is located in the centre of town near to the Abbey.
