Surrounded by beautiful coastlines and countryside, the area has been awarded World Heritage Site Status and is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches.
This historic unspoiled seaside resort and fishing port on the world famous Cobb harbour is situated at the heart of the Jurassic Coast.
The Cobb (Lyme Regis harbour) was built in the 13th century and is well known for the scene where Meryl Streep stood, looking longingly out to sea in ‘The French Lieutenant’s Woman’ and also the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s ‘Persuasion’.
The old town which dates back to the 14th Century is built around the River Lym and has its own working water mill and the shelter of Lyme Bay offers a surprising micro-climate.
