Situated three miles west of Bridport on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, North Chideock is an attractive village enfolded within the Winniford valley, which boasts dramatic landscapes. There are high hills to the east, west and north, and unspoiled coastal cliffs to the south. Golden Cap (the highest point on the south coast at 191 metres) is rich in wildlife and unusual geology. Lying to the south of Chideock, Seatown’s Coastguard Watch Houses, Customs Guard Houses and The Anchor Inn evoke a history based on fishing – and smuggling!
